Canton, N.Y. – The Green Mountain College women's volleyball team traveled to Canton, N.Y. this past weekend to play three matches against host SUNY Canton and two other non-conference opponents, New Hampshire Technical Institute and Wells College. The team gained valuable game experience, but was unable to break through for any match victories, dropping all three matches.
The women lost back-to-back matches on Friday, dropping a 3-1 decision to SUNY Canton 25-14, 25-9, 21-25 and 25-16 before falling to NHTI 25-19, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-17.
The team faced off against Wells College on Saturday morning. Although the Eagles won the first game 25-22 and held multiple leads throughout the match, the Express battled hard and emerged with the victory.
Coach Eno believes the year's first road trip was beneficial for the team. "The first couple of games of the year are always a good measuring stick to determine how players fit together and how they well they will compete during games," said Eno. "It also allows us to see the areas we need to continue to address going forward."
The Eagles will travel to Paul Smith on Wednesday, September 5th for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the Bobcats.
