GMC Wins 3rd Straight
(October 8th, 2009) - Poultney, VT - Green Mountain College cruised to a 3-0 victory in women's volleyball action Thursday afternoon over the visiting Huskies of Word of Life Bible Institute. The win is the 3rd straight for the Eagles who run their record to 7-9 on the season.
Thursday was the final regular season contest for 3 GMC seniors including senior stand-out Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) who collected 11 kills on 22 attacks, 10 digs, and a pair of assists. Hillary Dernier (Seattle, WA), in her 1st season of volleyball competition, tallied 6 digs on the afternoon while Alison Tremblay (Worcester, MA) nabbed 8 digs.
GMC took the first set 25-20 followed by a 26-16 and 25-13 win in the final 2 sets. Junior Melanie Rodriguez (Hoboken, NJ) had a game-high 12 kills while fellow juniors Olesea Cojohari (Balti, Moldova) and Jen McGuire (Nutley, NJ) continued their excellent play with 16 and 17 assists, respectively.
Up next, the Eagles travel to SUNY Cobleskill for a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00 pm.
