Bellomo, Eagles Claim First Victory

September 8, 2009) - Paul Smiths, NY - The Green Mountain College women's volleyball team picked up their first win of the young season on the road Tuesday evening over Paul Smith's College. The Eagles even their record at (1-1) while Paul Smith's falls to (0-2).
GMC dominated all three sets in cruising to victory (25-17, 25-11, 25-11), the first for new head coach Erin Bellomo. "It was good for the ladies to get the first win under their belts and it was a significant improvement over last week's loss. They continue to work hard and get better everyday."
Junior Melanie Rodriguez (Hoboken, NJ) led the way on the attack for GMC tallying 8 kills on the day. Senior Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) and freshman Melina Di Stefano (San Francisco, CA) each chipped in with 6 followed by sophomore Chanleigh Casey (Hartford, NY) with 5.
Buckley, Di Stefano, and Rodriguez each added 6 service aces while senior Allison Tremblay (Worcester, MA) tallied 7 service points.
The Eagle's return to action Friday, September 11th when they travel to St. Joe's (ME) for the SJC Autumn Invitational where they square off against Lyndon St. at 6:00 pm followed by an 8:00 pm match against the hosts. On Saturday, GMC face Me.-Machias at 10:00 pm with the championship match set for 1:30 pm.
