CASTLETON, Vt. – The Green Mountain College women's tennis team posted its first win of the year against Lyndon State College at Castleton University on Saturday morning in non-conference play coming home with a 7-2 victory against the Hornets.
Green Mountain (1-2) took two of three matches in doubles action before winning all but one of the singles matches.
Finishing up the doubles action for the hosts was Ruby Santiago (Worcester , Mass.) and Dan Jung Yoon (Daejeon, South Korea) who won by default.
GMC's Vlahos won in top flight singles 6-4, 6-3 over Jackson. Chapman came away with her second straight singles victory thanks to a 6-1, 6-0 over Schofield. O'Connell cruised past Achidna in number three singles with 6-0, 6-1 set victories.
Lyndon's Calabro earned the second points for the Hornets with a tough fought 6-3, 7-5 victory over Danjung Yoon.
Coye and Santiago each earned a win by default in the fifth and sixth singles slots.
The Eagles will next play at Johnson State on Sunday for a non-conference match with a start time of 1 pm.
