Eagles Shutout by Beavers

FARMINGTON, Maine – Leah Stevens propelled UMaine-Farmington past Green Mountain on Leib Field Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.

The Beavers moved to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference while the Eagles fell to 1-3-1 in the NAC and 5-4-1 overall.

The Beavers led by a large margin in shots (33-1) while the Eagles' Jessica Casey (St. Albans, Vt.) had 14 saves. The Beavers had five corner kicks to Green Mountain's one.

The Beavers scored twice in each half. In the first half, McKenna Brodeur got the Beavers on the board first in the opening six minutes when she took a shot that was saved by the goalie, but Brodeur picked up the rebound and found the back of the net.

Stevens scored the second goal for the Beavers about 10 minutes later. Haley Murano crossed the ball into the middle and found Stevens' foot which put it in the back of the net.

Five minutes into the second half, Kaiti Kinney scored an unassisted goal which was followed by Stevens' second goal.

The Eagles will face Thomas tomorrow with a 12:00 p.m. kick off.
