GMC Bounced From NAC Tourney

(October 27, 2009) - Farmington, ME - The #5 seed Green Mountain College women's soccer team fell 4-1 to #4 Me.-Farmington Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles end their season with a 6-9-1 mark while the Beavers earned a trip to Castleton to face the #1 seed Spartans in the semifinal round Saturday, October 31st.
Noelle Moulton (York, ME) netted a hat trick with the first three goals of her collegiate career to lead the Beavers.
Farmington opened quickly with a pair of scores in the opening nine minutes. Beth Charles (New Vineyard, ME) scored off a misplayed ball at 2:58 and Moulton knocked in a Leigh Ronald (Farmington, ME) free kick at 8:44 for the 2-0 advantage. The Beavers pushed the lead to 3-0 when Moulton punched in a Ronald corner kick at 59:01.
Green Mountain - held without a shot for the first 51:48 - was able to break through at 78:13 when Kimberly Blank (West Lebanon, NY) found a seam in the Beaver defense and hit the streaking Taylor Riso (Portland, OR) for a goal.
Moulton completed the hat trick with four seconds left as she booted in the rebound of an Alida Peake (Penobscot, ME) attempt for the 4-1 victory.
McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) stopped a pair of shots for Farmington, which outshot the Eagles 19-5.
Karen Davidson recorded eight saves for Green Mountain.
