Riso Leads GMC Past Daniel Webster
(October 7, 2009) - Poultney, VT - GMC sophomore Taylor Riso (Portland, OR) scored a goal in each half to lead the Eagles past Daniel Webster in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon. GMC improves to 3-4-1 while Daniel Webster falls to 3-5.
Riso opened her account in the 11th minute when she pounced on a free ball in the box following a service from the left flank. Freshman Bryanna Astor (Milltown, NJ) doubled GMC's advantage 20 minutes into the second half, beating Daniel Webster net-minder Amy Waller (Berlin, MA) to poke home. Freshman Casey McGill (King of Prussia, PA) was credited with the assist after another clinical service from a wide position.
Sophomore Erin Burch (Lebanon, CT) scored her second goal is as many games with 9 minutes remaining followed by Riso's 2nd two minutes later.
GMC outshot Daniel Webster 28-1, forcing Waller into 15 saves.
The Eagles return to action this weekend when they host Husson University (Saturday, 1:00 pm) and Maine Maritime (Sunday, 12:00 pm) in a pair of NAC contests.
