Eagles Roll In Straight Sets

(September 27, 2009) - Castleton, VT - In a non-conference women's volleyball match, Green Mountain College disposed of Lyndon State College in straight sets Sunday afternoon at Castleton's Glenbrook Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 4-7 overall (0-2, NAC) while the Hornets fall to 3-7 (1-1).
The first match of the day against Johnson St. was postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
After taking the first set 25-17, GMC rolled in the final two sets 25-11 and 25-10. Senior Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) tallied 11 kills, 3 blocks, 4 service aces, and 6 digs to lead the Eagles. Junior Melanie Rodriguez (Hoboken, NJ) chipped in with 11 aces and 10 digs while junior Olesea Cojohari (Balti, Moldova) had 8 assists.
Lyndon senior Michelle Petty (Pawlet, VT) tallied 5 kills and 10 digs in the losing effort. The Hornets made 25 receiving errors on the afternoon.
GMC returns to action Wednesday, October 1st at 7:00 pm in a North Atlantic Conference contest.
