Eagle's Thump Word of Life Bible Institute

(October 20, 2009) - Poultney, VT - Green Mountain College scored 3 goals in each half en-route to a decisive 6-0 victory over the visiting Lady Huskies from Word of Life Bible Institute in women's soccer action.  The Eagles improve to 5-8-1 with the win.

Sophomore Taylor Riso (Portland, OR) tallied a brace in the opening 40 minutes and added a 3rd in the second half to lead GMC who out-shot the Lady Huskies 36-1.

Freshman Chelsea Paul (Northville, NY) earned her 1st career start in goal and made one save.

The match was the final home match for senior captain Katie Jablonski (West Rutland, VT).   Accroding to coach Katie Keogh, "(Katie) has been a key contributor to the women's soccer team success, since she joined the squad in 2007. Katie is a smart, yet aggressive player, starting in over 40 games while playing nearly every position on the field. She is a talented player who creates plays on the offensive side for her teammates, while hustling after every ball on defense.  Katie is a strong physical leader, who consistently elevates the level of play, earning the respect of her team, coaches, and opponents."

"Katie has also been a leader in the classroom. She has maintained a high grade point average working towards an Interdisciplinary Studies Degree with a focus in Business and Math, and she has also volunteered as a teaching assistant for the ELA courses offered at Green Mountain College. "

The Eagles return to action Saturday, October 24th when they travel to Lyndon St. for their final NAC and regular-season match.
