Eagles Battle to 0-0 Draw

(October 3, 2009) - Farmington, ME - The University of Maine at Farmington and Green Mountain College battled to a 0-0 stalemate in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (3-6-1 overall, 0-1-1 in the NAC) are scheduled to host Castleton State College Sunday at noon. The Eagles (1-5-1, 1-0-1) are slated to visit Thomas College Sunday at noon.
As rain intensified at the start of the game, the two teams slogged through the opening half, but both teams had opportunities after halftime.
Eight minutes into the second half, Farmington's Danica Wilson (Sidney, ME) had a pair of close shots blocked by Green Mountain defenders and Melissa St. Amand (Windsor, ME) was snubbed by Eagle netminder Karen Davidson (Seymour, CT).
The Eagles responded with Corey Gilbert (Henniker, NH) having a charge on goal snubbed out by Farmington keeper McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) and Emma Lord (Greenville, NY) ringing cross bar.
Green Mountain outshot the Beavers 4-2 in the two 10-minute sudden death overtimes, but neither team could find a score as the game finished in the 1-1 tie.
Barnes made five saves for the Beavers, who held a 16-14 shot advantage. Each team took three corner kicks.
Davidson recorded 11 saves for the Eagles.
