(Oct 29, 2008 Poultney, VT) - It was a cold and snowy day at Green Mountain College, where the temperature didn't break 36 degrees.  Three goals were scored by three different freshman in the first half to secure the victory for the Eagles, in the first round of North Atlantic Conference action. Freshman standout, Taylor Riso (Portland, OR.) drove the ball past Mariner keeper, Lacey Jackson (York, PA) off of a cross from fellow freshman, Erin Burch (Lebanon, CT).

Green Mountain challenged the Mariner keeper eight minutes later, when freshman midfielder, Nicole deJong (Dover, NH)lofted a ball from 30 yards out scoring in the upper corner of the goal. She was assisted by senior midfielder Monique Couture (Santa Barbara, CA). The Eagles maintained possession for the remainder of the half, finishing their scoring when freshman Emily Heale (East Bethany, NY) ran on to a ball inside the six yard box. Monique Couture was able to capture her second assist of the match.
