Malkin Powers GMC to victory

Sophomore Amanda Malkin (Barrylakes, NJ) tallied 6 goals and an assist to help Green Mountain College defeat NAC rival U-Me. Farmington (13-5) in women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.
Maine-Farmington got on the board first, as junior Kara Hudson (Wells, ME) scored on a free-position attempt six minutes into the contest. Malkin then took over the game, scoring two short-handed goals, assisting on sophomore Carley William's (Kensington, NH) finish followed by two more goals by Malkin. Hudson then found the back of the net again to pull Farmington within 3 at 5-2 with twelve minutes remaining in the first half.
Green Mountain held an 8-3 advantage at the half, and never looked back outscoring Maine-Farmington 5-2 in the second half producing the final result of 13-5.
The Eagles were led by Malkin's 6 goal, one assist performance, while also getting 2 goals and 2 assists from senior Amanda Jeffers (Homer, NY) and an outstanding game by freshmen goalkeeper Kelsy Allan (Jupiter, FL) who stopped 18 shots to pick up the win.
Maine-Farmington was led by Kara Hudson's 4 goals, while junior Jessie LaCasse (Marston Hills, ME) added the lone other goal.
With the victory, Green Mountain improves to 3-3 on the year, while Maine-Farmington fell to 0-2. The Eagle's return to action Sunday April 5th at home when they will take on Thomas College at 11am. Next up for Farmington will be Castleton State, Sunday April 5th at noon.
