Lady Eagles picked 5th by NAC coaches
Castleton State College was chosen by the league's coaches as the North Atlantic Conference women's basketball preseason favorite. The Spartans, led by head coach Tim Barrett in his eighth season, received seven first place votes and 63 points in the NAC women's basketball preseason poll. Castleton returns all five starters from a squad which finished 13-2 in conference play a season ago, will be led by two-time all-conference honoree point guard Jessica Banks.
Husson University was the choice for the second spot with one first place vote and 57 points. The Eagles return almost everyone from a squad last season that went 11-3 in conference play. Husson will be led by junior forward Shelby Bradford and senior guard Jenny Rollins, both of whom were first-team all-conference selections a season ago. The University of Maine-Farmington, who has captured 3 of the last 5 conference titles, was the coaches' third choice with 41 points. The Beavers return four starters including two-time all-conference honoree Caitlyn Laflin. Maine Maritime, who has posted a 58-7 conference mark over the last four seasons, placed fourth in the coaches' poll with 37 points. The Mariners are led by NAC Rookie of the Year Tatum Welch.
