GMC Student-Athletes Named to NAC All-Academic Team
The North Atlantic Conference recently honored 8 Green Mountain College student-athletes for their outstanding academic success. To be named to the winter/spring NAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing, have competed a minimum two years in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

Husson Depth Leads to NAC Semifinal Victory, 79-60 over Green Mountain
BANGOR, ME—Top seeded Husson University Women’s Basketball Team used their depth to pull way from #4 Green Mountain Eagles to a 79-60 NAC semifinal win at Newman Gym on the Husson campus. Husson used all seventeen players on the team to wear down the Green Mountain Eagles who played only seven. Husson was led by the NAC Player of the Year Shelby Bradford with 15 points and 10 rebounds and NAC Rookie of the Year Bree Hanscom with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Noelle Lincoln went 4 for 6 from the three point line to add 12 points and Bethany Sevey tallied 13. Eleven different Husson players scored.

Women's NAC Semi-final to be WEBCAST Tonight
The Green Mountain College women’s basketball team travels to Husson University for tonight’s NAC tournament semi-final at 6 pm. The game will be broadcast LIVE via the internet starting at 6 pm. The North Atlantic Conference honored a trio of GMC women and men’s basketball players this week. The All-Conference teams, as voted on by the coaches, featured two second-team nominations and one honorable mention for both teams.

Late Run Propels Eagles Over Mariners
A run in the late stages of the game allowed the #4 seed Eagles to advance to the NAC semifinals with a win over the visiting Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy. Senior Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) dropped a team-leading 13 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and forced 4 turnovers en route to victory. Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) pitched in with 12 points, 8 boards, and 7 blocks. Brittany Holden (Schenectady, NY) and Molly Hopper (Gouvernor, NY) added 12 and 11 points resepctivley.

#4 Seed Eagles Host Maine Maritime in NAC Tournament First Round
Green Mountain College will host a North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal game Tuesday at 5:30pm. The Eagles earned the #4 seed after defeating Maine Maritime this weekend (54-50). GMC will face Maritime for the 3rd time this season on Tuesday.

Husson Uses Big Second Half to Drop Eagles
The visiting Husson University Eagles used a 46-point burst in the second half to come from behind and beat the host Green Mountain College Eagles (66-57) Saturday afternoon at Waldron Gymnasium. With the win, Husson improves to (12-2) in the NAC and (17-7) overall. GMC falls to (5-9) and (11-13) on the season. GMC is now in a 4-way tie for fourth place in the NAC standings.

Basketball Teams Set for Final Conference Weekend
The men and women’s basketball teams host a pair of conference games this weekend against Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University. Friday night’s doubleheader against the Mariners begins at 6 pm with the men followed by the women at 8 pm. On Saturday the Eagles welcome Husson at 2 pm (men) and 4 pm (women).

The Green Mountain College women’s basketball team turned a one-point halftime advantage into a (54-50) victory over the visiting Mariners from Maine Maritime Friday night. With the victory, the Eagles improve to (5-8) in conference play and move into a tie for fourth place with one game remaining.

In a North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball matchup between Thomas College and Green Mountain College at Larry Mahaney Gym in Waterville, the Thomas Terriers were able to capture a 72-67 victory to improve to 2-9 in the NAC.

Castleton stumbles at home versus Green Mountain
The Castleton State College women’s basketball team lost to visiting Green Mountain College 47-41 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action Tuesday evening at Glenbrook Gymnasium. It marked the first win for Green Mountain at Castleton since the 2001-2002 season.

Johnson State Rolls By Green Mountain 72-50
JOHNSON, Vt. (February 7, 2009) – Johnson State used a balance offensive attack to key a 72-50 home North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball victory on Saturday at Carter Gym. Eight Badgers scored five points or more in the contest en route to the victory avenging a loss in Poultney in January.

Christina Chamberlin Scores 1,000th Point
At the 3:48 mark in the second half of last week’s home contest against Castleton State, senior women’s basketball co-captain Christina Chamberlin scored her 1,000th collegiate career point on a free throw. Over her 4-year career at Green Mountain College, Chamberlin has helped the team achieve progressively greater success including last season’s DIII Independent Championship and a 17-7 overall record.

Basketball Games to be Broadcast LIVE Tonight
Tonight’s men’s and women’s basketball games at North Atlantic Conference opponent Lyndon State college will be broadcast live via the Northeast Sports Network. Eagles Silence Terriers
The Green Mountain College Eagles women’s basketball team turned a half –time deficit into a decisive victory Saturday afternoon, (77-72) against the visiting Terriers of Thomas College. GMC limited Thomas to 34.1% shooting from the field in the second half while racking up 41 points to claim victory. Molly Hopper (Gouvernor, NY) led all scorers with a career-high 26 points (11 in the second half) to pace the Eagles to their 3rd conference win on the season (3-4) and 9th overall (9-8).

Despite a second half surge by Green Mountain College, the visiting Beavers of Me.-Farmington held on for a 73-62 victory Friday evening. UMF shot 52.6% in the second half and 50.9% on the night and drilled 7 of 17 three-pointers.

Castleton Claims Cross-Town Victory Over Green Mountain
The visiting Spartans of Castleton State College upended the Eagles 56-46 in a defensive battle Tuesday night. The Spartans used a stingy defensive effort to hold the hosts to 25% shooting from the field to claim victory. GMC senior Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) and CSC senior Mary Nienow (Middlebury, VT) both reached the 1,000th point milestone on the night.

Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) scored 21 points and grabbed a game high 13 rebounds as the Green Mountain College Eagles defeated the Maine Maritime women’s basketball team in overtime by the score of 66-64 in a North Atlantic Conference match-up Saturday afternoon at Margaret Smith Gymnasium.

Husson University topped Green Mountain College 80-67 at Newman Gym in NAC action. Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee, ME) paced the Husson with a game high 25 points and 18 rebounds, she also added 4 assists and 4 steals.

The women’s basketball team heads to Maine for a pair of conference games this weekend against Husson College and Maine Maritime Academy. The Eagles, (7-5) overall and (1-1) in conference play, are fresh off their first NAC win of the season after cruising by Johnson State at home this week (55-42).

GMC Picks Up Conference Win
The Green Mountain College Eagles halted their 3 game losing streak and picked up a crucial North Atlantic Conference victory Tuesday night over the visiting Badgers from Johnson State. After a slow start where GMC fell behind (12-4) 5 minutes in, the Eagles held the Badgers scoreless over the next 6 minutes of play, taking a 19-12 lead. JSC battled back after going on an 11-6 run and drew within 2 points, 23-25, by the interval.

A Lyndon State college lay-up with 2 seconds remaining gave the Hornets a North Atlantic Conference victory on the road Tuesday night. Senior Elizabeth Hall (Newport, VT) drove the lane with 5 seconds remaining and found the basket amidst several GMC defenders.

GMC Suffers First Home Loss of the Season
The Eagles lost their first home game of the season Saturday afternoon 64-49 to the visiting Becker College Hawks. GMC struggled from the field shooting only 28.1% while turning the ball over 27 times.

Eagles Roll Past Bay Path
The Green Mountain College Eagles rolled to a convincing 85-55 victory of the visiting Wildcats of Bay Path College Friday night. With the win, GMC improves to 6-2 on the season. The Eagles were led by junior Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Senior Natalie Clark (W. Palm Beach, FL)continued her hot shooting, finishing with 17 points on 8 for 11 shooting in the winning effort.

PAXTON, Mass.-- Freshman Molly Hopper had 17 points and 12 rebounds to pave the way for Green Mountain College, as they defeated the Anna Maria College women’s basketball team by the score of 86-55 at the Fuller Activities Center on Sunday afternoon.

A year ago the Eagles lost to the Raptors 79-63. In the opening of the Bard Tip-off GMC remembered that game and came out fired up to lead 29-18 at the half. With just seconds on the clock JR Katie Jablonski (West Rutland, VT) hit a three to put the Eagles up by 11 going into the half.

Rivier outlasts Green Mountain
In an extremely fast paced, back and forth game, Rivier came out the winners 78-71. The lead changed several times in the first 12 minutes of the game, until Rivier secured the lead by the half, leading 35-30. Each time GMC went on a run, Rivier answered with their own run. For a short stint in the second half Rivier led by 13 points, until GMC quickly cut it back to 6.

Lady Eagles picked 5th by NAC coaches
Castleton State College was chosen by the league's coaches as the North Atlantic Conference women's basketball preseason favorite. The Spartans, led by head coach Tim Barrett in his eighth season, received seven first place votes and 63 points in the NAC women's basketball preseason poll.
