Pitching Leads Husson to Sweep

In a Saturday afternoon north Atlantic Conference doubleheader, the Husson University pitching staff yielded 2 hits over 10 innings to claim a 9-0 and 13-0 victory over Green Mountain College.
With the sweep, Husson improves to 13-11 on the year and remain perfect at 6-0 in the conference. GMC falls to 7-13 and 2-4.
In the opening game, Nicole Sargent (Sullivan, ME) gave up one hit, struck out 8, and walked two in a dominating performance on the mound. She had plenty of support as her team belted 9 runs on 9 hits including a 3-run homer by junior second basemen Cassie Berry (Newcastle, ME). Dorothy Cameron (South Plainfield, NJ) and Jamie Milton (Howland, ME) each scored a pair of runs for Husson.
Caitlin LeBorgne (Scarborough, ME) took the mound for the visitors in game two and equaled Sargent's performance allowing no runs on 1 hit while striking out 8. Once again, the Husson bats were lively chalking up 13 runs, 11 in a fourth inning explosion. Milton continued her work offensively, knocking a two-run shot over the left field fence while also adding an RBI single.
Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) and Hilary Dernier (Seattle, WA) picked up the only hits for GMC on the afternoon. Brittany Holden (Schenectady, NY) and Cass Neimeth-Lazar (Red Hook, NY) picked up the losses on the mound in game one and two, respectively.
The host Eagles return to action tomorrow afternoon with another NAC twin billing against Maine Maritime Academy at noon. Husson travels to Castleton State for a noon doubleheader.
