Hawks Beat Short-Handed Eagles

LEICESTER, Mass.- Becker College defeated Green Mountain College in non-conference women's lacrosse action 20-2 on a frigid, rain soaked Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks jump to 4-3 overall, while the Eagles drop to 0-2 to start the season.

The Hawks were first to get on the board with a free position shot by senior Ashley Mossey. Mossey led Becker offensively scoring seven goals. Senior Christina Boucher scored the second of the game, and was also an offensive leader with seven goals.

Green Mountain got on the board with 11:19 to go with a rip from freshman Megan Scully (Henderson, N.Y.) off a free position shot. The goal was Scully's fourth on the young season. A few plays later, Scully added an assist on Green Mountain's second goal of the game, which was scored by senior Corinne Colpitts (Groveland, Mass.), her third of the year.

Additional goals for the Hawks were scored by seniors Samantha-Jo Dilkes and Jacqueline Chila, junior Tatum Fahs, sophomore Kailee Ruyack, and freshman Erika Galdamez. Junior Alyssa Bond also scored her first goal of the year.

On a day where it was difficult to feel one's stick between the fingers, Shelby Wicks (3-3) turned aside four of six shots to earn a victory in goal for Becker while Virginia Anderson (Silver Spring, Md.) made 15 saves in defeat for the Eagles.

Both teams will play next on Tuesday, April 2. The Eagles will play SUNY Canton at Castleton State beginning at 2:00 p.m., while the Hawks will travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a first draw at 4:30 p.m.
