Husson Shoots Down GMC

The visiting Eagles of Husson University out shot Green Mountain College 40-15 en route to a 10-5 NAC women's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon.  With the win, Husson (5-4, 2-2 NAC) solidifies the second seed for the upcoming NAC tournament.  GMC falls to 4-5 (2-2, NAC).

The host Eagles of Green Mountain opened the scoring at the 22:32 mark when sophomore Amanda Malkin (Barrylakes, NJ) converted a free-position shot.  Husson quickly returned the favor through junior Caitlin Ramsey (Berlin, NH) after a piercing run through the GMC defense.  The sides traded a pair of goals until Husson snatched the lead for good with 2:44 remaining in the first half.  Junior Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME) added one more goal before time sending the visitors into the second half with a 5-3 advantage.

Husson dominated the second half, outscoring GMC 5-3 and holding a 20-7 margin in shots.  Caitlyn Butterfield (Gorham, ME) scored twice and was joined by Rebecca Hatin (Jeffersonville, VT), Ashley Cyr (Madawaska, ME), and Kaylee Godan (Old Orchard Beach, ME) on the scored sheet.

GMC freshman net minder Kelsy Allan (Jupiter FL) was outstanding making 20 saves on the afternoon.  Amanda Malkin continued her goal-scoring run, tally 4 on 8 shots.

Caitlin Ramsey led the way for the visitors netting a trio of goals while sophomore Nikki Burns (South Berwick, ME) stopped 4 shots.

Green Mountain concludes their 2009 campaign next Friday when they travel to Daniel Webster at 4 pm for a non-conference game.  Husson travels to Castleton State College tomorrow at noon for their last regular season conference game.
