POULTNEY, Vt. – The Green Mountain College women's basketball program welcomes another freshman to its incoming class of 2018-19 as Sabrina Simili recently made a deposit and will don an Eagles' uniform for the upcoming season.
"Sabrina will be bringing a solid work ethic to our team and to the classroom," said Eagles' Head Coach Brad Rideout. "She is a true competitor that will get better every day, be it at practice or in a game situation. I look forward to seeing her positive energy on the court and on the GMC campus."
Simili, a 5-2 point guard from Windsor, California, joins the Eagles after a successful career playing for Windsor High School. As the Jaguars' starting point guard, Simili helped lead her team to over 50 wins over four regular seasons. Her play was rewarded twice with North Bay All-League recognition in 2015-16 and again this past year as she received honorable mention on both occasions. Simili helped the Jaguars to two postseason wins including a quarterfinal victory in her freshman season.
Simili boasts quickness and is a fiery competitor who averaged eight points per game and posted a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio which speaks to her ability with the ball. She also posted close to four steals per game with her great on the ball defense.
"[Sabrina] will bring fire and passion into the Green Mountain program," related Windsor Head Coach Joe Passalacqua.
Simili is excited to arrive at Green Mountain where she'll start her work in the Pre-Law program this fall.
"I'm unbelievably excited to have the opportunity to experience life at GMC," stated Simili.
Simili joins last week's addition of Leanna Mason on an Eagles' team that will return every player from its 2017-18 squad and looks to continue building on its success in preparation for competition in the NAIA.
