HENNIKER, N.H. – Suzanna Moses and Taylor Hill both notched double-digit point, but their contributions were not enough as the Green Mountain College women's basketball team was handed a 93-40 loss by New England College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Tuesday evening at Bridges Gym.
The win boosted the Pilgrims to 16-4 overall and 10-3 in NAC play, while Green Mountain remained winless at 0-17 overall and 0-12 in the league after the loss.
The Pilgrims received points from 12 of their 13 players in the victory. Mikala Malboeuf scored a game-high 18 points off the bench on 7-for-12 shooting with four three-pointers. Rene Hudson chipped in with 15 points, followed by Kourtney Elmore with 12 points. Corina Moore scored nine points and brought in 10 rebounds.
Moses scored a team-best 12 points for the Eagles, while Hill scored 10 points and brought in a team-best seven rebounds. Mercedes Rideout notched nine points off a trio of three-pointers.
NEC controlled the game from the first basket, a three-pointer by Hudson. Moses scored the first Eagles' basket of the game at the 8:11 mark, but they would not score again for the next five minutes as NEC built a 16-point lead. The Pilgrims led 26-7 at the end of the first quarter and 38-15 at halftime.
The Pilgrims hit 55.3 percent of their shot attempts in the second half (21-for-38) to claim the victory while the Eagles offense contributed consecutively more points through each quarter as the game progressed.
The Eagles will get set to host UMaine-Farmington and Thomas in a back-to-back set this Friday and Saturday.
