Eagles Complete Succesful Winter Season
March 1st, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – The Green Mountain College winter sports season came to a conclusion last weekend with the men’s basketball team exiting the North Atlantic Conference tournament in the semifinal round. As spring sports are set to gear up, here is a look back at the 2009-10 season.

Women’s Basketball: Duo Named to All-Conference Team
February 26th, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – Senior forward Emma Brinley Buckley (Lakeville, CT) and freshman guard Chelsea Paul (Northville, NY) were named to the NAC All-Conference second team yesterday.

Women's Basketball: Mariner's Defense Stifles Eagles
February 20th, 2010 – (Castine, Maine) - The Green Mountain College women’s basketball team dropped their final game of the season 49-30 to Maine Maritime Academy in a North Atlantic Conference game Saturday at Margaret Smith Chase Gymnasium. With the victory, MMA improved to 11-3 in the NAC and captured the #2 seed in the upcoming playoffs next Friday.

Women's Basketball Eliminated from Post-Season Contention
February 19th, 2010 – (Bangor, ME) –Husson University handed Green Mountain College an 82-48 defeat Friday night mathematically eliminating the Eagles from a berth in the upcoming conference tournament. Husson, still perfect in league play (13-0), run their record to 16-8 while the Eagles fall to 7-16 (2-11, NAC).

Eagles Set For Must-Win Game Friday
February 18, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – Fresh off of a difficult 73-68 loss to Thomas College on Saturday afternoon, the Green Mountain College women’s basketball team heads to Maine this weekend for their final two NAC matchups of the season. The 7-15 (2-10, NAC) Eagles will face undefeated (12-0 NAC) conference leaders Husson University on Friday evening at 6:00 pm.

Women's Basketball Falls on Senior Day
February 13th, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – Karin Bird (Lee, ME) dropped a team-high 29 points including a 14-for-18 effort from the charity stripe, leading Thomas College to a 73-68 victory over Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Dome.

Second-Half Run Sinks Eagles
February 12th, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – The University of Maine Farmington shot 48.1 percent from the field in the second-half, turning a 3-point halftime deficit into a 56-48 win in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action Friday night.

Eagles Host NAC Weekend With Playoff Implications
February 11th, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – After dropping a disappointing 65-38 decision to Castleton State on Tuesday evening, the Eagles (7-13, 2-8 NAC) look to get back on track Friday night when they host University of Maine Farmington (8-11, 6-4 NAC) at 6:00pm in a crucial North Atlantic Conference contest. With five games remaining on the season the Eagles sit in a three-way tie for the final conference playoff spot in the conference with Lyndon State College and Thomas College.

February 9th, 2010 - (Castleton, VT) - Christine Jaques (Burlington, VT) scored a game-high 20 points to lead Castleton to a 65-38 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s basketball win over Green Mountain Tuesday evening at Glenbrook Gymnasium. Castleton (13-8, 7-3) forced 27 Eagle turnovers, and held Green Mountain (7-13, 2-8) to its second-lowest point total of the season.

February 8th, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – Winners of two-straight North Atlantic Conference contests, the Green Mountain College women’s basketball team looks to make it three in a row Tuesday night when they head to Castleton State College for a 6:00 pm matchup with the Spartans.

February 6th, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – Jacque Caster (Seneca Falls, NY) and Katie Jablonski (West Rutland, VT) combined to hit four consecutive free-throws inside the final 20 seconds as the host Green Mountain College Eagles held off Johnson State College in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improved to 7-12 (2-7, NAC) while the Badgers fell to 6-14 (3-6, NAC).

February 2nd, 2010 – (Poultney, VT) – Freshman guard Chelsea Paul (Northville, NY) tallied a game-high 31 points and Emma Brinley Buckley (Lakeville, CT) notched her 3rd consecutive double-double en route to a 68-55 win over Lyndon State College in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action Tuesday night at the Eagle Dome.

January 30th, 2009 - (Farmington, Maine) - The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team scored the game's first 17 points on its way to a 68-53 North Atlantic Conference victory over Green Mountain College Sunday afternoon at Dearborn Gymnasium. The Beavers improve to 8-8 overall (6-2 in the NAC) while the Eagles fall to 5-12 (0-7).

Brinley Buckley Reaches Milestone, Eagles Fall to Thomas
January 29th, 2010 – (Waterville, ME) - The Thomas College Terriers tuned back a second half run by the visiting Eagles to claim an 83-73 victory in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action Friday night. With the win, the Terriers improve to 2-13 overall (1-6, NAC) while the Eagles remain winless in conference play (0-6) and 5-11 on the season.

The hosts fall to 5-8 on the season (0-3, NAC) while MMA evens their record at 7-7 (3-1, NAC).

JSC got just enough offense down the stretch to hold off the Eagles and move to 4-9 and 1-1 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while Green Mountain falls to 5-7 and 0-2 in the NAC.

January 12th, 2010 - (Lyndonville, VT) - Donna Lawson continued her torrid play with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals as Lyndon State handed Green Mountain College a 67-29 setback Tuesday in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action. The Eagles struggled from the field, shooting only 22.4% from the field for the game and 12.4% in the 2nd half.

The Eagles run their record to 5-3 while the Saints remain winless at 0-8.

December 14th, 2009 - (Poultney, VT) - For the second time this season, a Green Mountain College women’s basketball player has earned NAC rookie of the week. Freshman guard Chelsea Paul (Northville, NY) scored a game and career-high 24 points, leading the Eagles to a 63-54 victory at Becker College Saturday afternoon. Paul was a perfect 11-11 from the charity stripe including a clutch pair with 32 ticks remaining and added seven assists, seven boards, and a pair of steals.

December 13th, 2009 – (Leicester, MA) – After building a nine-point halftime lead, Green Mountain College withstood a furious 2nd half rally by the host Becker College Hawks and held on for a 63-54 victory in women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-3 on the season while the Hawks remain winless at 0-7.

The game will be played at nearby Holyoke Community College.

December 5th, 2009 – (Standish, ME) - Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME) scored a game-high 19 points off a 5-8 effort from beyond the arc and five Monks scored 10 or more points as Saint Joseph's (5-3) defeated Green Mountain College (3-3) in the Merry Monk Championship. GMC’s Christin Louras (Rutland, VT) was named to the All-Tournament Team averaging 8.5 PPG in the tourney.

November 21st, 2009 - (North Dartmouth, MA) - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s women’s basketball team forced 34 turnovers and held visiting Green Mountain to just 39 points en route to a 65-39 victory in the second game of the 2009 Hampton Inn Classic at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday night.
