Women Travel to Maine For a Pair of Conference Games

The women's basketball team heads to Maine for a pair of conference games this weekend against Husson College and Maine Maritime Academy.  The Eagles, (7-5) overall and (1-1) in conference play, are fresh off their first NAC win of the season after cruising by Johnson State at home this week (55-42). 

Offensively, GMC spread the scoring and four players finished the game in double figures.  Junior Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) led the way with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks.  Senior Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) added 14 and 10 rebounds while Brittany Holden (Schenectady, NY) chipped in 10 while dishing 7 assists.  Senior Natalie Clark (West Palm Beach, FL) scored 10 and was (2-3) from behind the arc.

The Husson College Eagles, (6-7) overall and (2-1) in conference play, after dropping a (76-70) decision at home to U-Maine Farmington for their first loss in 4 outings.  Husson are led by Shelby Bradford in scoring (16.2 ppg) and rebounding (10.3 rpg). The junior forward from Lee, Me, is shooting nearly 53% from the field while collecting 2.4 steals and 1.9 assists per game.  As a team, the Eagles are averaging 72.3 ppg and shooting 41% from the field. 

Maine Maritime carries a (5-9) record and is (1-2) in conference play.  The Mariners are coming of a (74-47) drubbing of Thomas College last week, but only won twice in their last 7 outings.  Averaging 59.8 ppg, MMA are led by Tatum Welch who is averaging double-digit points (14.4) and rebounds (10.1) per game.  As a team the Mariners are only shooting 37.6%, but are limiting opponents to 38% on the year. 

GMC are led by 4 players averaging double-figure points.  Senior forward Christina Chamberlin (Woddstock, VT) leads the way with 12.0 ppg while collecting 10.1 boards while fellow senior Brittany Holden (Schenectady, NY) is chipping in with 11.7 ppg while dishing out 7 assists per game.  Junior Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) is dropping 11.2 ppg, averaging 11.2 rebounds, and collecting 4.6 blocks per game.  Sophomore Molly Hopper (Gouvernor, NY) rounds out the top-four in scoring adding 10.8 and is shooting 45% from the field. 

As a team, the Eagles are scoring 69.2 ppg while limiting opponents to 56.4 on a scant 32.5% shooting from the field.
