Husson Uses Big Second Half to Drop Eagles

The visiting Husson University Eagles used a 46-point burst in the second half to come from behind and beat the host Green Mountain College Eagles (66-57) Saturday afternoon at Waldron Gymnasium.
With the win, Husson improves to (12-2) in the NAC and (17-7) overall. GMC falls to (5-9) and (11-13) on the season. GMC is now in a 4-way tie for fourth place in the NAC standings.
Green Mountain used a staunch first-half defensive effort to limit the visitors to 20 points on 7-25 shooting. Junior Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) recorded 4 blocks, 6 boards, and 8 points to pace the Eagles in the opening 20 minutes.
Husson clawed their way back into the game in the second-half and, with 10 minutes remaining, took the lead for good while shooting 50% from the field. Junior Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME) paced the visitors with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman Bree Hanscom (Mattawamkeag, ME) chipped in with 15 points, 2 steals and 2 assists.
Green Mountain senior Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) dropped 20 points on 7-10 shooting and pulled down 12 rebounds. Buckley finished with 15 points, and 9 rebounds before fouling out.
GMC now awaits the seeding for the NAC tournament.
