GMC Cruises Past MCLA
POULTNEY, VT - In the Eagle Dome the Eagles took part in the "Think Pink" initiative to create Breast Cancer Awareness. GMC played inspired basketball from the tip off. In the first half the game was back and forth until GMC went to the locker room up 36-23. Shooting an amazing 59.3 %.
In the second half, the closest the game got was 12, and the Eagles led anywhere from 12-17 throughout the half until MCLA fouled to create the final score. The Eagles used tough defense to trigger their offense. Green Mountain is ranked 4th in the country in Division III for Defensive Field Goal Percentage-holding opponents to 31.3%-on this day GMC held MCLA to 29.4%. The Eagles shot 55.6%.
The Eagles were led by JR Brittany Holden with 24 points and 10 assists (7-10 FG-8-11-FT). JR. Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) scored 18 points (9-12 FG) and pulled down 9 boards. SO Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. Buckley is currently leading Division III in blocks. FR Molly Hopper (Governeur, NY) chipped in with 12 points (6-9 FG) and 8 rebounds.
GMC will host Word of Life on Wednesday.
