Boyce and Steinhauer Power Women to Season-Best Finish

(North Conway, NH) - Junior Rebecca Steinhauer (Winchester, MA) and freshman Bethany Boyce (Kingston, NY) turned in top-25 results leading the Eagles to their best team finish of the season at Cranmore Mountain Saturday. GMC nabbed 6th out of 11 teams in the two-run Thompson Division slalom event. The men had only one finisher, landing in 9th place.
Both teams return to action tomorrow morning with another round of slalom racing at Cranmore.
Women
Steinhauer continued her run of top-15 finishes Saturday, turning in the 11th fastest combined time (1:57.49), narrowly edging Trinity College's Alicia MacNabb (1:57.87). The junior has finished no-worse than 14th in all seven races this season, with her top finish (3rd) coming at Sunday River (GS) on January 10th. Boyce tied her season-best finish with the 22nd fastest time in the 76 competitor field, completing the course in 2:11.40. Sophomore Bridget Combes (Londonderry, NH) turned in her 2nd-best finish of the year in 53rd (3:10.94).
As a team, the Eagles finished 6th with a total time of 439.83 (seconds), marking their best combined result of the season. GMC's previous top finish was 7th at last weekend's giant slalom (Dartmouth Skiway, Lyme, NH).

Despite having only one finisher, the Green Mountain College men's alpine ski team notched their top team finish of the season in 9th. The Eagles' lone finisher, Christopher Donovan (Bedford, MA) eclipsed his previous best finish, placing 25th in the field of 101 racers. Donovan completed the two-run event in a combined time of 2:09.33.
