Junior outfielder Kristin Belessis (Augusta, NJ) was named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) All-Conference Second Team in a vote of the league's coaches on Thursday.

Eagles Swept out of Playoffs Berth by Hornets
Green Mountain College needed to split the doubleheader with Lyndon State College Saturday to secure its first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) playoff berth. However, the Hornets turned in a dominating performance, taking Game 1 of the doubleheader 4-0 before registering an 11-0 five-inning victory in Game 2.

Eagles Keep Playoff Hopes Alive With NAC Sweep
Green Mountain’s Chelsea Paul (Northville, NY) capped off an impressive 6-for-8 day at the plate with some late inning heroics as her walk-off double in the nightcap of Friday’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader completed the sweep of Johnson State College 7-6, 14-13. The wins improve Green Mountain to 3-24 overall, but more importantly land the Eagles at 2-12 in NAC play allowing the team to leapfrog Lyndon in the standings for the coveted final playoff berth. Johnson State’s record falls to 9-22-1 overall and 3-10-1 in the NAC standings.

Eagles to Finish Up Regular Season Schedule this Weekend
The Green Mountain College softball team looks to close out its final four games of the season with a couple of wins, as the team takes on North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent Johnson State on Friday, April 20th at 3:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, April 21st, the Eagles will close out the regular season by traveling up to Lyndon State College to take on the Hornets in an NAC battle scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. Friday will also mark Senior Day for five of the program’s upper class players who will be honored in a small ceremony after the completion of game one.

Eagles Looking for Conference Win as they Prepare for Busy Weekend
The Green Mountain College softball team is looking to start off its three-game home stand on the right foot, as the team prepares to host a pair North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheaders this weekend. On Saturday, the Eagles will host University of Maine at Farmington in a 3:00 p.m. showdown. Then on Sunday, GMC is right back on the field as it hosts the Terriers of Thomas College with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

Eagles Drop a Pair of Games to Pilgrims
The women’s softball team dropped both games of an afternoon North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader against New England College on Tuesday. The Pilgrims took game one 9-1 before shutting out the Eagles in game two 8-0. With the wins the Pilgrims improve to 17-9 overall and 9-1 in NAC action. The losses drop the Eagles to 1-20 overall and 0-8 in the NAC.

Eagles Swept by Daniel Webster
Senior Amy Waller (Berlin, MA) combined to go 6 for 6 with five runs scored and knocked in three runs from the leadoff spot and Samantha Hill (Hudson, NH) notched her second home run of the season as Green Mountain College was swept by host Daniel Webster, 10-2 in six innings and 9-1 in five innings in a regional doubleheader Monday at Eagle Field. DWC improves to 12-11 overall while GMC drops to 1-18 with the losses.

Grueling Schedule Continues for Women's Softball
Green Mountain College softball, weary from a grueling part of the schedule, will continue its string of games over the next two days with doubleheaders against Daniel Webster College and New England College. The Eagles will be on the road against non-conference opponent DWC today with the first pitch of the first game set for 3:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the team will head to NEC for two North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games against the Pilgrims with the first game slated to start at 3:30 p.m.

Softball Swept by Mariners in Friday Doubleheader
Maine Maritime swept Green Mountain in a pair of mercy-rule shortened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games Friday afternoon at Ritchie Field. Erica Taylor (Mesquite, TX) threw the second no-hitter in Maine Maritime history to win the opener 8-0. Abby Yeo (Bucksport, ME) struck out seven as the Mariners (9-7, 2-2 NAC) handed the Eagles (1-14, 0-4 NAC) a 10-1 setback in the nightcap.

Eagles Head to Maine for Weekend Doubleheaders
Green Mountain College women’s softball will be looking for its second win of the season as it sets sail for Maine this weekend for a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheaders. On Friday, the Eagles visit Maine Maritime to play the Mariners at 2:00 p.m., while Saturday’s action against the three-time defending champion Husson Eagles will commence at noon.

The women's softball team could not exact revenge on its opening season losses to Wells College in a rematch held on Tuesday. The Eagles were swept by the Express 3-2 and 11-4. Wells improves to 6-2 on the year with the two wins while the Eagles' record falls to 1-12 overall.

The Green Mountain College softball team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 3rd, as it travels to Wells College to exact revenge on the Express who swept the Eagles in a doubleheader match-up earlier this season. The Eagles and Express will square off again for the first of two games to be played at 3:00 p.m., with the second game proceeding 20 minutes after the completion of the first game.

No Hitter Highlights Eagles’ Loss to Spartans
Castleton starting pitcher Taylor Lively (Greenfield, MA) was lights out against Green Mountain College as the junior no hit the Eagles, propelling the Spartans to a sweep over GMC in Saturday’s doubleheader action 9-1 and 14-0. With the two wins the Spartans improve to 6-10 on the year overall and start out North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with a perfect 2-0 record. The loss drops the Eagles to 1-10 to start the year and 0-2 in NAC action.

Eagles Battle Rival Spartans in Women's Softball
After dropping two of their last three games, the Green Mountain College softball team is looking to get back on the winning track as they prepare to host North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent Castleton State College on Saturday, March 31st, in a doubleheader match-up scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. The Eagles are 1-5 in NAC Conference openers dating back to the 2009 season.

Gators Take a Bite Out of Eagles
The Sage Colleges Gators came into today’s matchup against Green Mountain riding an 11 game winning streak and with a balanced offensive attack that included nine extra base hits, the Eagles were no match for the visitors as the team lost 17-1 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

Eagles Earn First Victory of the Season with DH Split
The Green Mountain College softball team split today’s doubleheader against Southern Vermont College to win its first game of the year. The team rode its defense to a close 6-5 win in game one before dropping the nightcap to the Mountaineers 5-3. With the split the Eagles’ record moves to 1-7 on the year while the Mountaineers are now 3-11 overall.

The Green Mountain softball team is seeking to claim its first victory of the season, as it looks to host its first two true home games of the season. On Wednesday, March 28th, Green Mountain will host Southern Vermont College in a non-conference doubleheader match-up slated for 3:30 p.m. Then on Thursday, March 29th, the Eagles will be back on the diamond as they host another non-conference doubleheader against The Sage Colleges Gators, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Eagles Swept in Battle of the Birds
The Green Mountain softball team dropped another doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at the hands of Becker College with scores of 15-5 and 10-2. The Hawks improve their overall record to 3-9 on the season while the Eagles are still looking for their first win starting the year off at 0-6.

Birds of Prey Meet in Sunday Matinee
The Green Mountain softball team will be looking to earn its first victory of the year after having been swept in back-to-back doubleheaders to start the year. That effort will come against Becker College on Sunday, March 25th, as the team travels to face the Hawks in non-conference action. The first game will start at 1:00 p.m. with the second game to follow immediately after.

The Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill swept a non-conference softball double-header from Green Mountain College Friday afternoon, as the Fighting Tigers won game one 10-1 in six innings and took the nightcap 17-6 in five innings. With the double-header win the Fighting Tigers improve their record to 3-3 on the season, while Green Mountain drops to 0-4.

Express Chug to Doubleheader Win over Eagles in Season Opener
On an unseasonably warm March afternoon, the Green Mountain softball team traveled to Queensbury on Wednesday for a doubleheader tilt against Wells College and returned without a win, but the women gained valuable game experience in their first games of the year. With the win the Express start the year off with a 2-0 record, while Eagles begin their season with a 0-2 record.

Eagles Chosen to Finish 9th in NAC Preseason Poll
With first year head coach Erica Eno taking over the reins of the softball team, the women will look to improve on last year’s 4-20 overall record (0-11, NAC) as they prepare for the 2012 season to get underway. The team was chosen to finish 9th in the North Atlantic Conference based on a poll of the coaches in the league.
