FARMINGTON, Maine – Green Mountain College men's cross country team captured 10th place at the 2017 8K North Atlantic Conference (NAC) cross country championship on Saturday afternoon at Mt. Blue HS that was hosted by the University of Maine at Farmington.
Colby-Sawyer (37) won the event followed by Castleton (83) and UMaine-Farmington (89).
In fourth place was Maine Maritime (90) as the Beavers took third by just one point. Husson took fifth with 130 points followed by Thomas (182), Lyndon State (184), UMaine-Presque Isle (210), Johnson St. (242), Green Mountain (247) and New England College (353).
Green Mountain was led by senior Jacob Nelson (West Barnstable, Mass.) who posted a time of 30:24 which placed him 20th overall and was just seven seconds off his career-best time.
Junior Nicholas Lamson (Montpelier, Vt.) finished second for the Eagles with a 48th place finish in a time 34:49 giving him his season's best result.
Senior Samuel Eisenhaur (South Londonderry, Vt.) captured 72nd place overall with his finish of 37:37 over the 8K distance while freshman Benjamin Nyklicek (Avon, Conn.) finished just behind in 75th place in a time of 39:24, shaving over a minute off his personal best time.
Sophomores Matt D'Arcy (Melbourne, Australia) and JaBarr Graves (Philadelphia, Pa.) closed out the contingent of Eagle runners as they finished just two seconds apart. D'Arcy finished in 42:30 which placed him 82nd overall while Graves grabbed 83rd place with a finish of 42:32.
