JOHNSON, Vt. - The Green Mountain College men's cross country team claimed a fourth-place finish in the 8K Badger Invitational on Saturday morning over a grueling mountainous course.
Senior Jacob Nelson (West Barnstable, Mass.) led all Eagle runners falling a second short of his personal best with a time of 31:31, nearly four and a half minutes better than his result in 2016 at the same course, which placed him in 5th overall.
Freshman Mason McKnight (Grove City, Pa.) earned his best finish of the year with a 9th place showing in a time of 33:25. Debuting in his first career meet was senior Samuel Eisenhaur (South Londonderry, Vt.) who finished 14th overall in a time of 34:35.
Freshman Cade Terada (Dutch Harbor, Alaska) grabbed his best 8K time of the season with a 22nd place finish with a time of 36:57. Junior Nicholas Lamson (Montpelier, Vt.) grabbed at 25th place finish in his first race of the year, completing the 8K course in a time of 37:20.
Sophomore JaBarr Graves (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded a 32nd place finish in a time of 47:16, while sophomore Matt D'Arcy (Melbourne, Australia) finished right behind him in 33rd spot in a time of 47:17.
The Eagles will head to Williams for its next race which comes Saturday, September 16 as the team will compete in the Purple Valley Classic.
