Eagles Bear Conditions to Compete at Plansky Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.— Old and young met on Mount Greylock Regional High School's 5k cross country course in atrocious conditions. Rain poured in a deceptively cold 45 degrees, with the course thoroughly muddied from showers earlier in the week. SUNY Polytechnic Institute SUNY Cobleskill, Green Mountain College and Dean College were also in attendance. Williams won with a perfect score of 15 points. SUNY Poly came second with 59. Close behind Cobleskill had 63 to Green Mountain's 120 with Dean College not scoring.

Green Mountain was paced by the pairing of Pierce Caldwell and Devin Balcacer. The duo finished back-to-back in 22nd and 23rd spot just six seconds apart. Caldwell completed the course in 22:09, while Balcacer was right behind him in a time of 22:15.

Nicholas Lamson placed third for the Eagles with a 24th place finish in a time of 23:20 with teammate Simon James following close behind in 25th spot in a time of 24:52.

Xavier Johnson came in 26th place with a finish of 28:05, while Marjuk Ahmad closed out the Eagles' contingent of runners with a 27th place finish in a time of 28:45.

The Eagles will next compete in their final meet of the season at the NAC Championships at Johnson State College next Saturday.
