SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Green Mountain College men's cross country competed in the Western New England University Invitational on Saturday morning. Three runners took part in the 8K course which saw top finishers from SUNY Delhi, University of New England, and Westfield St.
Damon Kilgore of Gordon was the top runner finishing the 8K course in a time of 25:36. Kobi Lane of SUNY Delhi finished as the runner up in a time of 25:52, while Grandon Smith of Castleton captured third spot with a finish of 26:22.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Devin Balcacer (Houston, Texas) who completed the 8K course in a time of 35:25 which placed her 155th overall. The result was a personal best this year, beating his previous mark by just over a minute.
Josh Drummond (Sunapee, N.H.) followed up Balcacer with an overall time of 36:14 which was good for 160th place. The senior runner knocked nearly a minute off his personal best at GMC with the result.
Marjuk Ahmad (Dhaka, Bangladesh) finalized the Eagle contingent of runners by posting a time of 46:57 which placed him 186th overall and trimmed nearly two minutes off his personal best.
Green Mountain will be at the Plansky Invitational next Saturday with race time scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
