HVCC Capture Team, Individual Title

(October 17, 2009) - Poultney, VT - The Hudson Valley CC men's cross-country team swept the honors Saturday morning capturing the individual and team crown at the Green Mountain College Invitational.  Kyle Gutbrodt covered the 8k course in 27:33.6, nearly one minute ahead of the next runner, leading the Vikings to victory with 27 points.

The Albany College of Pharmacy placed 3 runners in the top-ten, good enough for 2nd place (50 pts) followed by GMC (58), and Southern Vermont College (96).  Johnson St. and the Word of Life Bible Institute failed to record a team score.

HVCC's Dalijah Demand nabbed 4th for the Vikings (28:41.5) while teammates Matt Rusilas (30:42.4) and Brendan Gallagher (31:30.1) finished 8th and 10th, respectively.   Jessee Smith rounded out the scoring for HVCC in 12th (32:00.8).

GMC freshman Chris Donovan (Bedford, MA) was the top finisher for the Eagles in 7th (30:34.5) followed by Jonathan O'Neill (Bethl, CT) in 14th.  Scott Preavy (Morrisville, VT), Andrew O'Neill (Philmont, NY), and Aaron Ashton (34:15.1) finished in a tightly-knit pack finishing 17th through 19th.

GMC heads to RPI next Saturday, October 24th before returning home for the North Atlantic Conference Championship.
