Mens XC Shows Improvement, Finishes 10th

(September 19, 2009) - Annondale-on-Hudson, NY - The Green Mountain College Men's cross-country team top-4 finishers recorded personal bests for the 2009 season en route to a 10th place finish out of 16 teams at the Bard College Men's Cross-Country Invitational Saturday afternoon.
SUNY New Paltz captured the team title while also nabbing the fastest time in the field of 125. Joe Gentsch completed the course in a time of 25:55, 13 seconds ahead of Bard College's Aaron Ahlstrom.
Christopher Donovan (Bedford, MA) was the top finisher for GMC in 45th, narrowly missing the 30 minute mark at 30:13. Donovan's previous fastest time was 34:19.
The remainder of the Eagle's top-4 crossed the line in a tight pack. Freshman Andrew O'Neill (Philmont, NY) was the first to finish in 79th (32:44) followed by junior Scott Preavy (Morrisville, VT) in 81st (32:55), and sophomore Jonathan O'Neill (Bethel, CT) in 82nd (33:02).
The Eagles travel to Me.-Farmington for their next meet on Saturday, September 26th.
