Chargers Prove too Much for Eagles

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team defeated Green Mountain, 9-0, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division match on Thursday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 9-10 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Chargers will continue a busy week with a pair of matches this weekend. The team travels to Castleton on Saturday before hosting Thomas in a match of two undefeated conference teams on Sunday. Green Mountain drops to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the NAC East. The Eagles host Johnson State on Saturday.

Colby-Sawyer's Gustav Jigrup and Alex Wright did not drop a game to Truman Cressey and Kei Sako to win 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 duo of Dean Boodakian and Alex Townsend defeated Javier Lugris and Eric Wade 8-1 while the No. 3 team of Cam Lynch and Matt Burke won their matches by an 8-1 score over Pierce Caldwell and Daisuke Kon.

Jigrup posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cressey at the top singles flight.

Wright defeated Sako 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, while Boodakian did not drop a game in his No. 3 victory over Wade.

Burke also had a clean match by defeating Caldwell 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 slot.

Mike White stepped in at No. 5 singles to defeat Lugris, 6-0, 6-3.

Lynch rounded out singles action with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kon at No. 6.
