Two Early Second Half Goals Propel MCLA

(Oct 2, 2008 North Adams, MA)
Two goals shortly after half-time cost GMC the match on a rain-soaked pitch Wednesday afternoon in North Adams, MA. After a scoreless first 45 minutes, the Trailblazers from MCLA showed renewed energy and punished the Eagles for two defensive lapses.
Despite giving away two goals, GMC fought for the remainder of the half, generating several quality opportunities. Senior Jon Wagner watched his volley from 16 yards out fizz just wide and freshman Ryan Spill was unable to capitalize on a brilliant run and service from fellow freshman Brendan Regan in the late stages of the game. Consistent pressure from the Eagles created another golden opportunity in the closing minutes when they forced the MCLA keeper to ground only to miss on 3 attempts at an open goal.
In the final minutes, with GMC pressing for a goal, MCLA was able to exploit the under-manned Eagle backs and find a third and final goal.
