Men's Skiing Places 8th/4th at Killington

The 2009 Green Mountain men's alpine ski team opened their ECSC Thompson Division competition schedule this weekend with two days of slalom races at Killington Mountain Resort in Killington, VT. The strong 11-team field featured cross-town rivals Castleton State College, along with Boston University, and Northeastern.
The men finished 8th on the opening day paced by a 27th place finish by senior Michael Weinberg (Stamford, NY). Weinberg faltered in his first run landing in 47th position, but turned in the ninth fastest time in the second run (36.65). He was closely followed by freshman Joshua Saxe (Montpelier, VT) in 29th place with a combined time of 1:19.36. Freshman Bobby Narciso (Windham, NY) and Chris Wetzel (Highland Falls, NY) both failed to complete their opening runs.
On the second day, the men improved to 4th overall after strong showings by Weinberg, Wetzel, and Saxe. All three men finished in the top 25 racers out of 117 with Weinberg claiming 11th with a combined two-run time of 1:13.37. Wetzel finished 19th at 1:16.93 and Saxe rounded out the men with a 24th place finish at 1:21.73. Narciso, who was 28th after the first run, was unable to complete the course in the second finishing with no time.
