Two GMC Skiers Land on 2009 Mens and Womens ECSC All-Thompson Division Team

Siblings Nicholas and Marina Vornle have both been named ECSC Thompson Division Skier of the Year for their first place finishes in the overall ECSC Thompson Division standings for the men and women, respectively.
Skiing consistently all season, Nicholas Vornle of Boston University found himself on the division podium on six occasions, including a victory in the final giant slalom competition of the year. Vornle finished nine out of ten races in the top-six to propel himself to the top of the ECSC Thompson Division individual standings with 114 points. Vornle's closest rivals were Tufts University's Brian Bresee and Castleton State College's Justin Schwartz, who both finished in a tie for the runner-up spot with 95 points. Bresee completed the season with five second-place finishes, while Schwartz claimed six victories during the 2009 campaign. Castleton's Gregory Towle was victorious in the remaining three races of the season.
Marina Vornle of College of the Holy Cross collected five podium finishes, including one victory, to earn the top spot in the ECSC Thompson Division individual standings with 118 points. Throughout the season, Vornle finished no worse than ninth place in all ten races. Vornle was followed by Boston University's Teagan Lukacs, who finished the season ranked second with 110 points. Lukacs, winner of one race during the year, earned three top-three results, while also finishing all ten races no worse than ninth. Castleton's Heather Patterson was close behind Lukacs, as she ended the season with 109 points. Patterson won two races throughout the year and earned four other podium results. Patterson's teammates, Erica Luce, Katie Martin, and Michelle Podnecky took top honors in the six other races during the season, with Luce claiming three, Martin two, and Podnecky one.
Castleton State College earned the most representation on the ECSC All-Thompson Division Team with six men and eight women, while Boston University placed two men and two women on the list. Tufts University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Northeastern University, and Green Mountain College each had two skiers earn honors. Tufts and Worcester Polytechnic placed two men on the list, while Northeastern provided two women. Green Mountain had one male and one female earn the honor.
