Eagles Lose Fourth Consecutive against Fighting Tigers

COBLESKILL, N.Y.: The Green Mountain College men's lacrosse team suffered another setback losing on Monday afternoon by a 25-2 margin to the hosting Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill at the Fighting Tigers Soccer/Lax Complex. With the win, Cobleskill improves to 3-2 overall on the season while the Eagles fall to 0-4 overall on the campaign.

After starting off the game with Colton Everett's first collegiate goal, the home team blitzed the Eagles net for 13 first half goals and never looked back outshooting their opponents by a 51-to-31 margin, winning the face-off battle by a 21-to-10 tally and picking up 66 ground balls as compared to only 32 by Green Mountain.

The Cobleskill attack was led by the tandem of attackmen Garrett Vigrass, who scored a career-high seven goals, and midfielder Sean Degnan, who scored five goals, passed out three assists and picked up a career-high 12 groundballs on the afternoon. The hosts also received three goals and two assists from attackman Jeremy Mowrey and two goals and passed out three assists from midfielder Edwin Martinez. 

Patrick Carey scored his first collegiate goal in the game with Deven Rogers and Chris Surdam picking up assists in the loss. Rogers also led the Eagles with six groundballs.

Goalkeeper John Montaniz posted the victory in net for Cobleskill on the strength of nine saves and two ground balls while fellow goalie Cameron Loomis held the Eagles scoreless over the last 18:24 of the game by posting four saves. Green Mountain's Carl Diethelm notched ten saves while Daniel McKinney closed out the game in net for the visitors.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, April 8th when they host Maine Maritime in conference action beginning at 1 p.m.
