Thomas Knocks Off Green Mountain in Men’s Lacrosse

Poultney, VT- Thomas College defeated Green Mountain College 15-4 in men's lacrosse as 8 players found the back of the net for the Terriers. Thomas started fast with a Kolby Peckham (West Gardiner, ME) goal 2 minutes and 56 seconds into the contest. Thomas tallied five more scores in the first quarter, as a Peckham shot found the net again with 7:15 remaining in the opening quarter. Justin Lawler (Oakland, ME) and Jeremy Parmley (Eliot, ME) score thirty eight seconds apart, both on feeds from Peckham in the eleventh minute of the first quarter. Luke Collier (Sidney, ME) and TJ Collins (East Bridgewater, ME) then tallied goals in the final minute of the first to give the visitors a 6-0 lead.

Green Mountain got on the board with 13:34 remaining in the second quarter as Max Talsky (Hanover, NH) finished off a Tom Wheeler (Seattle, WA) pass, cutting the lead to 6-1. Thomas answered twenty-two seconds later when Kevin Averill (New Sharon, ME) scored off of a Justin Lawler assist. Green Mountain tallied the next two scores as Talsky again scored on a Kyle Pike (Concord, NH) pass, and Tom Wheeler scored an unassisted goal with 3:03 remaining in the period to cut the lead to 7-3. The Terriers again answered the Eagles rally, when Kolby Peckham took a feed from Jeremy Parmley and fired a shot past Green Mountain keeper Keith Drinkwine with just under three minutes remaining in the half.

Thomas College pushed their lead to 10-3 in the opening 3 minutes of the third quarter on unassisted goals from Peckham and Kevin Averill. Green Mountain posted it's final goal of the contest with 11:37 remaining in the third on an unassisted score from Max Talsky making the score 10-4.

Thomas finished the contest with five unanswered goals, as Mitch Bickford (Belgrade, ME), Justin Lawler, Kevin Averill, PJ Stroebel (Newport, NH) and Jeremy Parmley each scored for the visitors.

Max Talsky led the way for Green Mountain with 3 goals, Tom Wheeler added a goal and an assist, and Kyle Pike chipped in with a goal. Keith Drinkwine (Selkirk, NY) took the loss for Green Mountain, saving 11 of the 55 shots he faced.

Kolby Peckham tallied 4 goals and 2 assists for the visitors, Kevin Averill added 3 goals, while Justin Lawler and Jeremy Parmley each had 2 goals and 3 assists. Josh Collelo (Yarmouth, ME) earned the win for Thomas stopping 9 shots while facing 16 shots, and Derek Racine tended the net for Thomas in the second half, saving 5 of 14 shots.

Green Mountain fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-3 in NAC contests. The Eagles return to action Sunday March 29th when they host Becker College at Northwood Park at noon.

Thomas improves to 3-3 on the year and 3-1 in NAC play. The Terriers will host Johnson State College Saturday April 4th at 1:00pm.
