Hornets hold off Green Mountain

Lyndon State jumped out to an 8-4 lead by halftime and held off a late charge to record a hard-fought 13-11 victory over Green Mountain College Saturday in North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action.

Chris Mansour netted seven goals to lead the Hornets and Craig Salvagno had four. Luke Norman-Lacroix had two goals for Lyndon, who upped its record to 3-7 overall and 2-6 in the NAC. Myles Hacking and Patrick McCarthy picked up two assists each while Mansour, Norman-Lacroix, Salvagno and Nate Taylor had one.

Matt Adams made 11 saves for LSC and was credited with the win.

Max Talsky scored five goals and the tandem of Shelby Gaseck and Steve Braunius tallied two each for the Eagles, who fell to 1-10 overall and 0-8 in the NAC. Thomas Wheeler and Kyle Pike had one goal apiece for GMC while Talsky (2), Wheeler (2) and Gaseck earned assists.

Keith Drinkwine stopped seven shots for Green Mountain in the loss.

Lyndon State returns to the field Sunday when it host Becker College at 1 p.m. Green Mountain, on the other hand, will remain idle until Wednesday when it entertains Daniel Webster College at 4 p.m
