Eagles Finish 4th at Johnson St. Invitational

(September 5, 2009) - Williston, VT - The Green Mountain College golf team took to the links Saturday afternoon in their first competition of the 2009 season, finishing 4th among 4 teams at the Johnson St. Invitational held at Catamount Country Club.
Saint Michael's finished with a score of 301, good for 21-over par, earning a commanding 53-stroke victory over the second-place squad, Vermont Tech. The Green Knights carded a 354, one stroke better than third-place Johnson, while Green Mountain placed fourth with a 395.The top finisher for the Eagles was Kyle Costanzo who carded 20-over par 90.
Leading Saint Michael's was sophomore Chris LaPolice (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic), who carded a one-over par 71. Freshman Nick Angelo fired a three-over 73, while junior Erik Haversang (Essex Fells, N.J./Essex Fells) posted a 74 to help the Purple Knights to a commanding win.
Medalist honors went to Johnson's Tyler Parker, who carded an even-par 70 to edge LaPolice by one stroke.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday when they return to Catamount Country Club in Williston, VT for a second invitational hosted by Johnson St.
