Tennis Picks-Up Three Conference Awards

Doubles team Christin Louras (Rutland, VT) and Mark Lundeen (Lakeville, CT) were named to the NAC All-Conference 1st team Friday afternoon while coach Rob Purdy was honored as the Coach of the Year. For their persistence and dedication, the team was awarded the 2009 Sportsmanship Award.

The Green Mountain College Men’s tennis team begins their bid for a North Atlantic Conference title when they face Johnson State College tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm. The match, hosted by Castleton State College, will be played at White’s Park (32 E Center St., Rutland, VT).

Men's Tennis: Norwich Sprints Past Green Mountain, 8-1

POULTNEY, Vt. - The Norwich University men's tennis team won its second consecutive match on Sunday afternoon as the Cadets defeated in-state rival Green Mountain College, 8-1, in a non-conference contest. Norwich (2-3) swept the three doubles sets, and won five of the six singles points en route to the victory. Collin Hyte and Chris Pashley teamed up to earn an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. Matt Sanford and Travis Tyler picked up an 8-0 win at second doubles. Graham Oliveira and Bobby Whitbeck completed the sweep of the doubles points by collecting an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

Men's Tennis Falls to Hornets
The visiting Hornets of Lyndon State College picked up a (6-3) North Atlantic Conference men’s tennis victory Saturday afternoon over the host Eagle’s of Green Mountain College. In singles action, Lyndon’s Robbie Gray picked up a 2-set victory over Brett Dugan in the #1 match (6-3), (6-0). In the #2 match, Peter Dutile defeated GMC’s Kyle O’Boyle (6-4), (6-4). Chris Hammet and Paul Thibault both picked wins for Lyndon in the #3 and #4 matches over Kyle Watt and Kevin Hart, respectively.

The Green Mountain College men's tennis team swept the Eagles (9-0) in Friday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference contest. Story to follow.

Tennis Team falls to Thomas in Season Opener
WATERVILLE, Maine - The Thomas College Men's Tennis Team proved too much for the visiting Green Mountain Eagles winning 6-3 in the second match of the spring season for the Terriers. The win pushes Thomas to 2-0 on the season.

Senior Timothy Roper (Pepperell, MA), in his 3rd season of competition, is the starting left-back for the GMC men’s soccer team. His gritty determination and attitude towards the game has earned him the respect of his teammates and coaching staff.
