Raptors Overwhelm Eagles

(September 11, 2009) - Annandale-on-Hudson, NY - The host Raptors used a pair of first half goals and cruised to a 4-0 victory in the opening round of the Bard College Raptors Classic Friday evening. The Eagles drop to (0-2-1) on the season while Bard improves to (3-1-0).
The Raptors opened their scoring account in the 24th minute when senior Chris Harada (Chicago, IL) found himself free inside the 6 yard box after a flurry of activity and poked the ball past GMC freshman goalkeeper Nate Kishbaugh (Niskayuna, NY). Junior Alexis Kondilis (New York, NY) doubled the Bard lead in the 39th minute when he broke free of his defender inside the box.
After the interval, the Eagles youth began to show as the Bard attacking corps sprayed balls around the park, creating a number of scoring opportunities and forcing Kishbaugh into 11 saves on the afternoon. Senior Jake Magee (Taos, NM) finally broke through for the 3rd goal in the 70th minute when he burst through the GMC backs and slotted home past Kishbaugh. Freshman Chet Darrow (New York, NY) finished the scoring in the 88th minute after finishing on the half-turn from 8 yards.
The Eagles, still searching for their first victory, face Polytechnic (NY) Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm. The Fighting Blue Jays lost 2-0 to Southern Vermont on Friday evening.
