Crusader Cruise Past Eagles

Poultney, VT - The Association of Division III Independent Conference witnessed the #4 seed, Green Mountain Eagles, dismantling at the hands of a capable #1 seed, University of Dallas Crusaders, in semi-final action today.  Six different scorers from Dallas balanced the effort that saw East meet West.

Sophomore midfielder Matt Stamper (Blue Springs, AR) scored in the first half for Dallas with an assist from junior forward Adam Lunger (Keller, TX) in a contested first half.  In the second half, Green Mountain attempted to weather a Crusader storm that started with what would prove to be the game winning goal, unassisted, by senior defender Jared Lee (Grapevine, TX).  Junior midfielder Stuart Brown (Boerne, TX) followed shortly after with Lunger's second assist of the day.  Senior forward Brandon Washatka (Topeka, KS) and junior midfielder Mike McIlholn (San Diego, CA) added unassisted tallies while freshman forward Ryan Meske (Niwot, CA) scored off a senior midfielder Rob Burton (Round Rock, TX) assist.

Bright spot on the day for Green Mountain was a goal by freshman forward Graham Twichell (Exeter, NH) assisted by fellow freshman midfielder Nelson Ongiti (Nairobi, Kenya).

Crusader junior goalkeeper Mike Sumcizk (Grapevine, TX) made 5 saves while fellow Crusader, senior Mike Hasson (Fairfax, VA), finished the match with one save on 12 shots.  Eagle sophomore net minder sophomore Zach Fortuna (Ludlow, VT) made 13 saves on 29 shots.
