Second Half Tally Not Enough
Poultney, VT - The day presented a warm sun and a great crowd to root for the Eagles against future North Atlantic Conference opponent John State College. The Badgers from Johnson created enough offense in the first half to make the mountain too steep to climb for the Eagles who made a strong push in the second.
Down 7-2 at halftime, the Eagles fought their way to a 10-6 loss but not without some strong drama and zealous belief in the possibility of a comeback. Three penalities in the fourth quarter were an undoing yet the Eagles provided a good show to the 50 or so spectators that came out to support.
"We inch closer everyday we play," Coach Labate said. "If we could manage the the second half intensity and drive in the first half of some of the games we have played, the win column would reflect us better."
Sophmores Jared "Max" Talsky (Hanover, NH) and Bryve Donaldson (Lamoille, VT) tallied two goals apiece while senior John Ryan Magruder (Tully, NY) and junior Kyle Pike (Concord, NH) scored one each. Junior netminder Stave Braunius (Lake Pleasant, NY) made 14 saves in the loss.
Green Mountain (1-8) will travel to cross county power and future North Atlantic Conference opponent Castleton to finish their season on the 24th of April.
