Eagles Earn 4th seed and Host NAC Quarterfinal Game Tuesday

In their first season with the conference, Green Mountain secured the fourth seed in the tournament. The Eagles (15-10 overall, 7-7 NAC) will host Johnson State (12-13 overall, 6-8 NAC) in first round action on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The two squads split two tight contests each earning victories on the road.
On January 20th, the visiting Badgers from Johnson State College used a superior rebounding effort and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to beat the Green Mountain College Eagles on the road. JSC, led by senior Bobby Shedd (Johnson, VT) (18 points, 11 rebounds), held the Eagles to only 4 points in the final 5:59 of the game to claim a 6-point victory, 60-54. In a game that featured 17 lead changes, it was the Badgers who were able to pull away in the final minutes. Trailing by 3 with :19 left, Leandro Martinez (Philadelphia, PA) sunk two free throws to put the game out of reach.
The return leg on February 7th saw visiting Green Mountain College race out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes and they never gave up the lead as the Eagles defeated the host Badgers 84-80 in Carter Gym in North Atlantic Conference play.
The Eagles were on fire throughout the contest connecting on 31-of-50 shots in the game for a 62% field goal percentage for the game.
Green Mountain saw Rui Carmo (Fort Meyers, Fla.) record a game-high 26 points and add nine rebounds, all defensive. Fabian Ferreira (Queens, N.Y.) scored 19 points, Rich Bailey (Bronx, N.Y.) added 17 points, and Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) tossed in 14 points
