Eagles run Streak to Seven

Green Mountain defeated New England College 86-77 in their return to action after the New Year. The Eagles who never trailed in the ballgame took a lead of 42-35 into halftime. The Eagles pushed the lead to double figures early in the second half, and managed to keep it there throughout the majority if the half. The Pilgrims never stop playing, and finished the game on a 14-2 run over the last 3 minutes to cut the margin to 9.

The Eagles balanced scoring saw three players in double figures, led by Gerard Johnson's 20 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Fabian Ferreira finished with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals while freshmen Travis Debreaux added 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting and 4-4 from the free thrown line to go with 8 rebounds. Bryson Greene added 9 points, and Rich Bailey and Abe Saccoh finished with 8 points apiece.

For the Pilgrims, Rafael Saladolo the way with 25 points, 20 coming in the second half, while Shane Hennesseey posted 16 points and 8 rebounds. Eric Lenahan came off the bench to add 13 points and Spencer Marzouk added 10.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday Jan. 7th at 7pm at Western Connecticut State, followed by a home contest vs Wells College on Thursday the 8th at 6pm. New England College returns to action on Wednesday the 7th when they travel to Johnson State at 6pm.
