Green Mountain College Overwhelms Vermont Tech

The Green Mountain College Eagles men's basketball program won their sixth straight game to improve to 6-1 on the season with a convincing 79-64 result over visiting Vermont Tech Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles were led by the outstanding play of senior Fabian Ferreira (Queens, NY) who finished with 25 points on 10-14 shooting from the field. Today was the sixth game Ferreira has reached double figure points helping to replace the loss of the top two scorers on last years 21-5 team. Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, NY) tallied 14 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks and was 4 assists shy for the first triple double of his career. Freshman Travis Debreaux (Baltimore, MD) also had a double-double adding 21 points and 10 boards.
Green Mountain, who led start to finish, stretched their 15 point half-time advantage to 24 mid-way through the second before Vermont Tech fought their back to within 12. That proved to be as close as the visitors who come to matching the Eagles down the stretch who shot 51.6% for the game.
The Eagles are back in action January 7th at Western Connecticut College.
