Green Mountain's Adam Fisher Inks Contract in Mexico
Green Mountain College's Adam Fisher has just signed a professional basketball contract with Tijuana Galagos in the LNBP. The LNBP is the top professional league in Mexico, and Fisher has signed with the Galagos to help them in the stretch run as they make a push for the playoffs. "It was something I've dreamed of since I was a little kid, it's a blessing." Fisher added, "I'm looking forward to expanding my game, and the higher level of competition will be a big help as I work to reach my potential as a player."
Eagles basketball coach Todd Montana was thrilled, saying, "I am proud of the player he (Adam) has become, and I am thrilled he will have the opportunity he deserves to continue his basketball career."
Fisher played 3 seasons for the Eagles finishing his career in the 07-08 season. He was twice named to the Association of Division 3 Independents first team in his career. One of the best all-around players in school history, Adam scored over 1,000 points, pulled down over 700 rebounds, handed out over 400 assists and had over 200 steals in his 3 year career at Green Mountain. In his senior season Fisher was named to the all-tournament team as Green Mountain won the AD3I Northeast Regional Championship, and he helped the Eagles to a 21-5 record.
"Adam was a driving force for Green Mountain basketball for 3 years, and he was a key to the resurgence of the Green Mountain program. His junior year the program was in bad shape, and he bought into the vision for the future, and helped set the standard for what Green Mountain basketball should be. One of the happiest moments of my career was watching him cut down the nets after our AD3I championship in 2008, he deserved to have that feeling, and because of his loyalty to GMC a lot of other guys were able to have that same feeling as well."
When asked what he is looking forward to, Fisher responded, "Having the opportunity to travel, seeing different places and cultures will be a good experience, and being able to use basketball as a means to that end, well let's just say I feel very fortunate."
Fisher becomes the second player from the 2007-2008 Green Mountain Basketball team to sign a professional contract, joining Doug Hammond in the professional ranks. Hammond plays for SSV Lok Bernau in Germany.
