Men's Basketball Halts Skid

(Johnson, VT) - The Green Mountain College men's basketball team halted their three-game skid, edging the Johnson St. College Badgers 75-73 in North Atlantic Conference action Tuesday night. The combination of Rui Carmo (Fort Meyers, FL) and Trent Morgan (Streetsboro, OH) tallied 52 of the Eagles 75 points in the win. The loss drops Johnson to 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the NAC while Green Mountain moves to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in the NAC.
Morgan was the story in the first 20 minutes connecting on 6-of-7 3-point field goals for 18 first half points as the game was tied heading into the break. Johnson led for much for the first half until Morgan caught fire.
Carmo, the NAC's leading scorer and rebounder, was kept relatively quite in the first half but exploded for 20 second half points to finish with 30 points and 11 boards in the game, both game-high's. Morgan would score 22 points and add five assists.
Johnson was paced by Nate Dodge (Burlington, VT) who scored 14 points and snatched a team-high nine rebounds while Leandro Martinez (Philadelphia, PA) also notched 14 points and hit both of his 3-point tries.
Green Mountain will host Maine Maritime Academy on Friday at 6:00 pm and Husson University on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
