(Farmington, ME) - The Green Mountain College men's basketball team dropped a 68-45 decision to the University of Maine Farmington Sunday afternoon at Dearborn Gymnasium.  The Eagles fall to 5-11 on the season (2-5, NAC) while the Beavers improve to 6-1 in conference play (6-10, overall). 

Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) and Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) each collected double-doubles for the Beavers as Farmington outscored the Eagles 40-17 in the second half. Tanguay posted 19 points and 13 rebounds and Taylor adding 18 points and 11 boards. Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME) netted 14 points and doled out five assists.

Rui Carmo (Fort Meyers, FL) tallied a game-high 20 points for the Eagles. Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, NY) had six points and 10 rebounds.

The first half featured eight ties and eight lead changes. Carmo carried the Eagles through the opening frame with 15 points, while Lelansky and Tanguay each scored nine points for the Beavers

After a 28-28 stalemate at intermission, Farmington charged out of the break with a 15-3 stretch over the first five minutes of the half. The run was finished off by Taylor layups on three straight possessions for a 43-31 lead.

Carmo hit a jumper to quell the Beavers' run, but Farmington scored the next nine points capped by a Mike Gingras (Winthrop, ME) trey for a 52-34 command en route to the 68-45 victory.

The Beavers connected on 51.4 percent (18-35) of their shots from the field in the second half, while stifling the Eagles at 26.9 percent (7-26).

The Eagles return to action Tuesday night at 8:00 pm when they host Lyndon State College.
