Green Mountain Drops Home Conference Contest

Sophomore Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) led all scorers with 34 points to pace the visiting University of Maine Farmington Beavers to a road conference victory over the host Eagles of Green Mountain College Friday night (77-65).
The Eagles had no answer for Taylor who shot 14 for 22 from the floor and added 12 rebounds in the winning effort.
The game featured 8 lead changes, but the Beavers used a 69.6% shooting effort in the second half to pull away. Green Mountain trailed by three at the interval, (30-27), but could not get any closer shooting only 37.7% on the night.
The Eagles were led by senior Fabian Ferriera (Queens, NY) scoring 20 points and notching 3 assists. Sophomore Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, NY) and junior Rui Carmo (Fort Meyers, FL) both added 14 points in the losing effort.
UMF junior Josh Tanguay (Gorha, ME) joined Taylor with his own double double scoring 21 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
The Beavers improve to (7-9) on the season and (5-2) in conference play while the Eagles fall to (10-6) and (2-4).
Both teams return to action tomorrow with GMC hosting NAC opponent Thomas College and UMF traveling to Castleton. Tip-off for both games is set for 4pm.
